I use a Yakima roof rack - you can lock it in and I don't have to take the rack on and off!
Works great.
Hasn't happened to me, but I can already see myself driving 3-4 hours en route to a race, stopping for breakfast/lunch, and then seeing that my $3000 bike is stolen either because I carelessly forgot to lock the door (rarely happens, but it does occasionally) or someone found a way to unlock my car via the window (breaking it or other tricks.)

I contemplated a roof rack - I just hate reaching up that high - I'm short and it's hard for me!

Saris Bones looks great, but security issues again are a bit of a problem if I plan on stopping for more than 15 mins at a time away from my car.

I'm even considering chaining my bike to my car door INSIDE my car so I can eat/stop in peace!
