My non-guzzling honda CRV also fits a bike without removing either wheel. I only have to fold down one of the rear seats, roll the bike in rear-wheel-first, turn the handlebars and voila. I have managed to fit four complete bikes in the trunk (vertically, w/both wheels off) as well, but it was a bit like playing tetris!
