Well, my '87 Stumpjumper is TIG-welded/lugless and has horizontal dropouts. I generally like horizontals drops but w/ the chainstay-mounted u-brake they're a pain because it makes adjusting the rear tire more critical. I blew my back tire because I had pulled the rear wheel a few millimeters too far back, and the brake pads rubbed through the sidewall a few miles into a ride.
