If you have a frame you like it is entirely possible to have it chromed. I have seen frames that were taken to a shop here in Sacramento that chromes auto bumpers and mostly automotive parts. These frames were absolutely beautiful with a deep almost blueish chrome color. I believe they ran in the $200. range for a complete chrome. Might be worth calling around and see what a plating company charges. Another tip: if getting a frame sand blasted or powder coated, find out when they are running a color you like and have them add your frame...it saved me about half as the setup was easier.
