Didn't some w@nker in a car lose it and clean up that poor blighter and his mate who weren't doing anything wrong?
Rode to Lithgow the alternative way, via OConnell and Tarana yesterday. Crazy hot day with a northerlie gale blowing. Great ride the 30km to oconnell as it's mostly all flat or slightly downhill. Averaged 36 for that 30km. After that was when the pain started. Went that way because I thought it wouldn't have as many long hills. Well yeah done are as long, but there's more of them and steeper. Was either coasting or pushing up bloody steep climbs in the lowest gear. Thought I was going to get heat stroke at one stage. I broke my all time bike top speed record though. Near the end there's a hill going down to Lake Lyall near Lithgow. Been down there before on a motorbike and didn;t pay much attention to it, other that it had a shocking surface, with it all being decades of roadfill. Anyway, get passed by a motorbike up the top. Start heading down and things get very scary very quick. I knew I was doing a fair clip, but I was more worried about my plastic bike not folding up underneath me. It was so bumpy I couldn't reach the brakes. Down the bottom, I got passed by another motorbike (the first ones mate I guess). He must have been following me down to see how I went. It must have been as impressive looking as it was scary for me, as he gave me the thumbs up as he went past. Final speed? 97.8 km/h. Would have been way over 100 if the road was smooth. Maybe I'll complain to Lithgow council that it's dangerous, get them to put down some hot mix, and do it again.
Hey, about bumps/holes and my bike. Everytime I go over one bigger than a 50 piece it seem to slow my bike noticably, like I had a stab at the brakes. I've never had this on any bikes before. Is this a common thing for roadbikes?
Oh yeah. Not a bad effort by Pidge either. Shame I was riding at the time, so missed it.
