Beautiful frame. Just love Mondonicos.
Nothing wrong with Centaur, but I'll echo the thoughts of a couple other posters here that if you can scour the internet or bike shops near you to find some alloy cranks, brifters and derailleurs, I'd do so. There's just something about the understated simplicity and beauty of the Mondonico frame that cries out for shiny aluminum instead of black carbon fiber. I bought my 2002 Chorus group months before I had even had my frame, just cause I didn't want carbon fiber, which was being introduced in 2003.
Finding a Mondonico steel fork might be tough. Not sure if you knew or not, but Antonio retired from building bikes a couple years ago, and while there are still Mondonico frames being built under license( I believe by Billato), they don't come with forks. I would think that if you contacted Torelli, they might have some left in their warehouse, or Chairman Bill might even be able to persuade Antonio to bend and braze one just for you. That frame needs a nice steel fork to complement it. I knew of a shop that still had some they were selling, but that was a while ago, and it appears they've sold out of their stock by now; I thought I might have a lead for you there.
Is that frame black, or the green? Hard to tell as the green looks pretty black in some photos. In any event, you got yourself a great bike, and you're gonna love how it rides. Oh, and no low spoke fancy wheels, throw a set of 32-hole Mavic Open Pros on it. Or even better, some Triumph rims from Torelli(rebadged Ambrosio Excellence). Tradition and all.
Anyway, any occasion to post them again
2003 Mondonico EL-OS
2005 Mondonico Futura Leggaro. One of the last 300 frames Antonio built. And I still don't have the cash to get some wheels for it.
