48/14 on a MTB conversion seems way high to me. 50 GI or so is recommended for off road fixed gear stuff & whatnot. Unless you plan to use a MTB fixie on the street? even so 48/14 is STILL high

IMO run a 38T in the middle & find a cog size that works for what you're gonna be doing on the bike
