I rented a single-speed, coaster-brake beach cruiser when on the west coast recently. Over the course of three days I put about 55 miles on this beast and had a number of adventures, including both tires flatting at the same time (no kevlar on this beast), the grease in the rear hub literally going up in smoke when I rode the coaster brake too long, and *dropping the chain on a downhill*.
Now, the only brake is a coaster break, which is DOA if you don't have a chain. I dragged my feet about a quarter mile, but it did eventually stop.
