The trick is to tape just enough to improve your aero advantage without overheating. If you tape the whole thing over, you risk that, and bonking.

And use helicopter tape. It holds up better at high speed. That's what the NASCAR teams use on the front of the cars to make them more aero (and sometime repair damge) and hold up at 200mph speeds. It's expensive, but worth it in the long run.
