Ha. Well put. But you know, just because I'm going through this assembly process for the first time doesn't mean I don't know anything about bikes. I spend an awful lot of time on my current bike and I feel I have a pretty good idea of what areas of my bike could use improvement.
I recently came into some extra money and am simply seeking to put together a bike I can really really call my own and take pride in. I sprung for nice components because I want a nice ride. Now my ignorance is limiting me when it comes to this. I imagine the veterans around here could say things like "Oh yeah, you don't need that. Get this; it is half as expensive and just as good." I don't know those sorts of things and I'm going to pay for it, but I'm okay with that.
I don't actually have any biker friends where I live so this is kind of a solitary project apart from the fine cyclists on this forum. But all in all I feel really good about everything and am extremely excited to actually get to work on it.
