+1 for prettyshady's comments. While you're at it, ask him for the serial number from the dropout and all info from the label on the bottom bracket or chainstay, if the label is still present.

Gut reaction is that it's circa 1978-1981 and entry level, based on the relatively large gap between the rear tire and seat tube, with the axle at it's apparent location in the dropout.
