The only way I check is when I'm seating the tire on the wheel and use my fingers to make sure that the tube is well tucked up into the tire and clear of the clincher area. If you're attentive to that while you're mounting the tire, it shouldn't be an issue. Also, typically if it's pinched in the clincher, it'll blow out almost immediately when you put air in it. Ask me how I know that...
