I'm Filipino. I grew up there. Sometimes I think about moving back but I can never do that; there is no cycling culture there (recreational or transportation) and both my girlfriend and I race. That's the only thing stopping us.
I'm from Manila as well and used to ride when I was in college. If you stay off of the main streets then you can always find paths through neighborhoods and such.
