I'm also a desk jockey and being able to sit at a desk is a great way to start the work day after a morning run and/or ride. However, as a 50+ runner and cyclist, I think that sitting around all day is one of the worst things a person can do after running or riding that morning. Sitting tightens the hamstrings and calves and can tire the quadriceps. I don't want to discourage you from riding. rather, I want to encourage you to take care of your legs during the work day. So when you embark on your morning exercise regimen that involves your legs (i.e., riding to work), be sure to stretch your hamstrings, calves and quadriceps after you ride.

I also have a styrofoam roller for all parts of the leg (not me in the photos)

and a "pro stretch" torture device (calves and hamstrings)

I also make it a point to get up and walk around frequently during my work day. I get best results when I take a short walk every 20 minutes or so.

Good luck!
