OP, why do you want QR so badly? You should be carrying a 15 with you anyways for your rear, and with the popularity of SSFG, your front wheel may be targeted more (despite the superiority of surrounding wheels, if any). I think you should save the ~$30 you'd spend on changing the axle out and put it toward another cog, or something of the like.

I couldn't find the hubs you're talking about on eBay (US). Are they flip-flop or just bear threading on one side? If I recall correctly, the older D/A hubs are strictly single-side threaded.
