Depends on ride as umd stated. I can't give info like him but can give avg. HR. On a recovery ride I try to keep an average between 120-135 but have a hard time doing this. On long rides, what I consider anything over 100km at or around a 25km/h average my HR will be between 140-150 average. On shorter rides and doing hard training I'll keep it around 160. All these have variables to like, riding with group and which group it is. One group I may be around 120 the whole ride others 160 for as long as I can manage. Perspective I'm 38 overwieght, 6'1" 218lbs, I don't race but ride with those who do and like to train hard. I'm not kidding anyone, in a race they would kill me as soon as we hit the big hills but I'm getting lighter and faster.
