Bikes: 2000 Raleigh M50. 2006 Raleigh Rush Hour. 2008 Cannondale Synapse 6.

Another vote for the sram courier cranks with the GXP external bottom bracket. It comes in black and is probably the stiffest choice for a crankset around $100.
