They're so cheap to make, you might as well make one and try it out. One of the guys I met at a campground was using a pop can stove... or trying anyway. It was pretty windy that evening. I cooked dinner with my Jetboil stove, ate, and cleaned up before he managed to get a small pot of water boiling.

It will cost you virtually nothing to try them for yourself before you commit to a tour with one.
