Or that he's a fake, an astroturf sockpuppet concocted by the marketing arm of an imagined cartel of locksmiths bent on the exploitation of the bicycling community. In which case I submit to you that the reason you can't afford better locks is because all your money is going into tinfoil for your hat, and refer you to Crawdad's blood-on-bike thread for re-education.
