A Happy Mother's Day Project

In between taking care of festive activities for my wife and mother-in-law today, I slapped together this Sekai from parts that have been hanging around in my basement and needed to be put to good use. Frameset is Tange Champion #5 Cromo. The wheels are 26 x 1 1/4"/EA1 rims w/ a rear VeloSteel coaster-brake hub, a front Sturmey Archer hub, and Dunlop White Sprite tires. I had built these wheels for my '48 Claud Butler, but I modified the Claud a few weeks ago w/ a 700c wheelset. Crankset is a TA 3-pin w/ 42-t ring, Shimano sealed BB, Atom pedals, Luxe bars, and no-name stem, Gipiemme 26.4mm seatpost and Brooks Pro saddle that was on my PX-10. Front rack is a 12-pack rack from Leah Stargardner, which has been looking for a bike to rest on. Total weight is around 24 lbs. The rear wheel needs truing, but otherwise it's good to go.

Here I am in action on the bike, photo taken by my soon-to-be-7 son, who had just helped me mow the backyard weeds, our Mom's day present for my mother-in-law, whose house is behind ours.

And here's the photographer, who wants a BMX bicycle for his birthday:
