And, since the frame / fork weighs about 3 lbs and are all carbon, it cries out for carbon components. I believe that the internals for Rival and Force are the same. However, Rival is all alum with some steel. Force is carbon & alum with some steel.

You have a valid argument, but you contradict yourself by wanting to use your old wheels. Just get Rival and a set of good wheels and you'll be golden
