Living on salt water, a couple of miles from the Ocean, mine have rusted.

I have a pair of X-5's on my TT bike. Didn't ride it for 4-5 months and the pedals were frozen solid with rust.

Conversely, none of my X2's have had similar issues.

Good news is I shot a ton of grease through them, and after a couple of rides they now seem to turn as freely as they ever did.

There is also a difference in the type of bearings between the X2'sand the X5's IIRC.
