EDIT: The MC-E is a quad emitter led, which in a nutshell is basically four leds in one. The XR-E is one led, which can put out around 230 lumens. The XR-E will have less light, but a longer runtime and more throw. The Q5 and R2 are from the XR-E series of leds, with the R2 being the brighter.

that's exactly what i'm doing, i want the throw on my helmet so i can lit up what i see, whenever i want to quickly glance at something at night in the park paths

the Flood P7 is just good for lighting up everything around.

right now i came down with these 2 choices, can't decide which to pick.

Aurora WF-600 HA-III 2-Mode Cree Q5 LED Flashlight (18650/CR123A/3.6V~9V)

vs.
Fenix TK10 Cree Q5 225-Lumen Water-proof HA-III LED Flashlight (2*CR123A)
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.13481

from the pictures the Aurora seems to have a better Throw than the Fenix, and it can use 18650, which is what i'd rather carry with me, since all my flashlights uses the same, it'll make it easier to swap around.

---EDIT---
hmm... it might be over rated,
but i found this nice expensive Fenix TK11 Black, R2 Edition [TK11B-R2]
https://www.fenix-store.com/product_...roducts_id=650
i'll give it a try, should be better than the TK10 and TK11
