I almost always left bias to let right turn on red drivers turn. I've let thousands of drivers pass on my right to turn and very often get a friendly wave (or even a window down 'thank you'). Only four times out of the ~5k drivers that turned right have I had a driver continue straight. In all those cases I was biased a bit to far to the left. Instead keep the space to your right limited so it is a bit of a squeeze - you know it is a squeeze if most drivers pause and don't pass until you point to the ground (only for those w/turn signal on) to your right to let them know it is OK to move forward and turn.
