Bikes: One brand-less build-up, and a Connondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra Disc. A nicer bike than I need, but it was a good deal, so... ;-)

The Campy races are replaceable. You'll want to replace the bearings and cones as well, because once any of those starts "spalling" (the technical term for what you're seeing), little bits of hardened metal are floating around in there chewing things up.

The cups cones and bearings are "case hardened", only the very surface of the metal is hardened, to maintain some "give" in the metal. If the metal were fully hardened, it would be too brittle. Wear through the hardened part, though, adn the "chewy center" wears away quickly.
