It's been a long time but I snagged two today, in two very different fashions. 10 dollars for each of them too!

First score is a Lotus America. I saw this riding around downtown 2 days ago and thought it was in the garbage, when I got closer I realized it belonged to a homeless man. I wanted to ask about the bike but I chickend out. For the past 2 days I have been driving by to see if he was still there and I mustered up the courage to ask if he would sell it. The answer was yes, so I asked how much and the answer was 10 dollars. At first I felt bad only giving him 10 dollars but in retrospect the bike is rough, plus it's a low end Lotus. No seat and a flat rear tire... and he was still riding it!! IN the hardest gear!!!

My next find is a Fuji Tivoli. After searching garage sales all day and coming up empty I was heading home on a high from buying the lotus. 2 blocks from my house I see a bike shaped object... rats it's just a Mongoose. WAIT, is that a Fuji?? It's sort of ugly, but its decent. Shimano light action drive train, Shimano Exage aero brake levers and a good frame with forged dropouts. Again, 10 dollars on this one too.

The plan is to switch all the decent parts from the fuji onto the Lotus frame (my size). Build a nice lightweight city bike with upright bars and suntour bar end shifters I have laying around. I wish I had someone to high five right now!
