Its definitely a Merckx badge, an old one, and judging by the slop, I'd say it was poorly repainted.

I don't know about Merckx frames that old. I figure it would be difficult to transplant that headbadge, so its probably authentic. If its actually worth anything, the person that it's worth something to should be able to recognize it quickly
