While I understand what you are saying I ask you to not do that and not suggest other do it - go to a LBS in order to fit yourself for an internet purchase. That sort of behavior is inappropriate. Of course, if you go to your LBS and pay for a professional fitting in order to make an informed purchase elsewhere that is different and appropriate. You have simply paid for one of the services they provide. Local bike stores are very customer oriented and helpful places that support the local economy through providing retail goods, jobs and a necessary service. Taking advantage of them by playing to their customer service leanings with the full intent of walking out and using the garnered, unpaid information to spend your money elsewhere is in very bad taste.
