I remember that colour scheme. I think we have the same year bike because I remember seeing that one in the store (mine was blue/white) and the stickers were the same colour. I'm not sure if it's 87 or 88.
85, 86 and 87 were the original Rockhoppers with the old school geometry. They had cantilevers in the front and back. 1988 started version II, more modern geometry, 1988, only year, had a U-brake, in the rear. In 1989 they had cantis on both ends. The 1988's were 6 sp while most 89's were 7 sp. Hope that helps.
