You guys have been repeating entirely too much forum memes without actually thinking it through. The notion that "if someone wants your bike, they'll get it" is nearly as stupid as the notion that a better built lock does not offer any more protection than a cheap one.
If a thief only has access to prying tools and your lock can be pried open with a crowbar, the thief will take it. If it can't, and those are the only tools a thief has, your bike is safe from him.
If a thief has access to a drill and your lock can be defeated with a drill, he will take your bike. If your lock cannot be defeated by a pry bar or a drill, your bike is safe.
If a thief has access to a bottle jack and a jack can be used to open your lock, the thief will get your bike. If your lock cannot be defeated by a pry bar, a drill or a bottle jack, your bike is safe.
This is not complicated stuff, and anyone who actually thinks instead of repeating half baked forum memes should know this. The most sophisticated thieves can defeat any lock, but to imply that because the most sophisticated thieves can break your lock, anyone can break your lock, and therefore a better lock offers no additional protection is absolutely moronic
