I got pulled over by a motorcycle cop today.

I was downtown headed through a 4-way stop with a traffic light. The light was red and I was turning right. This stop actually has great visibility and I could see nobody was coming, so I pulled the old California roll through the light.

Turns out the roll was completely blatant, so the cop pulled me over (not sure where he came from). I didn't have an official ID on me, so technically I could have gone to jail and received a $150 fine on top of that. Instead, the cop just gave me a lecture and said that since he saw I slowed down and looked he would settle for a warning, but the law is that I have to stop and unclip. He was nice about the whole thing. I just got the feeling that he thought I was one of those guys who blows through stop signs all the time, which I'm not. I can see where he would get that impression, though.

I was wrong. No doubt about it. I deserved the fine for sure. If the cop starts lecturing sidewalk and wrong-way cyclists I'll actually be happy about this whole thing.
