This happened in 97. After the fact I found out that there is not statute requiring you to put a foot down. However to contest the ticket would have cost me well over 600 bucks in lost work so it was a cost/benefit equation. My insurance company said it wouldn't increase my rates so I just paid the 185 bucks and moved on.
