I ride an old Italian Road frame (steel with adjustable dropouts) as a fixed gear, with 175mm crank, bb height only 270mm, and shimano SPD-L pedals, and do not worry about striking pedals on the road, but I also do not race with this bike.
If you do race, you end up striking a left or right pedal at some point in corners, and that can be ridden out as long as you dont freak, and the rear wheel will come right back down to traction again. The sleek design pedals are so rounded off that the shape helps this.
otherwise, dont worry and just ride, and think of Yoda if a pedal strikes while going gonzo thru a turn
