Yea, it wouldnt add a lot to the per unit cost, but the investment for Sum Yung Geek Inc to undertake the project, determine modes needed, contract someone and commit to buying enough to so that it makes sense economically involves risk and they seem seriously risk adversed.
Selling a bright headlight involves much less risk than gambling on a $70 taillight. At this point they seem interesting only in the low hanging fruit.
