This was all within half minute or so, and as I remember my light just turned green, so probably the yellow bus was turning when he had yellow/red light (catching the light).

I think the driver should be more careful?
I presume you are referring to the full-length school bus that has has the long end past the back wheels?

I don't "obey" any light. No matter what color it is, I make sure it's safe to proceed before doing so.

Camilo:
Out where I live, car drivers only look on 1 side. Traditionally their LEFT side, the opposite side of where the bike/cyclist be.
I speak of this being a problem at 4-way stop intersections, more than anywhere else.
Even off-duty car-drivers (many being cyclists themselves) as them being pedestrians are doing the same. When those pedestrians are crossing the roads (be it on crosswalk or not)
Their having of CELL-PHONES has altered the above, to being unpredictable.

Don't be silly.

No one is suggesting that you shouldn't make sure it's safe to proceed. If you need to be told to make sure it's safe before proceding, you really shouldn't be riding or driving.

Where was the intersection?

It doesn't seem like you looked to your right to see what was coming down the road. The pedestrain light doesn't mean much in this case because you weren't in the walkway but in the road. As far as we know, the bus wasn't acting in contradiction to the traffic signals.
