I'm going to start taking my nephews to school on their bikes, but I have to say, this traffic is so bad that even I'm a bit alarmed. I'm going to have to find a good, safe sidewalk and make sure the route has plenty of space between the sidewalks and the street just in case, since the younger one has balance issues. I will probably ride in the street alongside them just in case too.

I think there are a ton more cars out there on the road, and much bigger than when we were growing up. Plus, with so many things taking away from the driver's concentration (cell phones, televisions in the car, etc.), it's just a lot more to deal with.
