You would be hard pressed to find a means of transportation that can beat those numbers.
it is specifically pedestrians killed by cyclists running red lights/stop signs in it is for San Francisco which is less than a million people. I can't find stats for pedestrians killed per year by bicycles, I would guess it is pretty low

But that is not the point. the point is those 2 deaths were totally preventable had the cyclist followed the law.

And if I recall right (don't have time to look it up) those deaths reflected a significant percentage of the total pedestrian deaths for each year in SF, 5 to 8% or so.

Every news report about this issue from SF has normal type people reporting close calls with cyclists running stops signs and red lights.

Some people just rant on the internet without ever bothering to think. The outcome (traffic was slowed, demonstrating to one and all what the downside of a specific law is during an enforcement crackdown) was exactly the point of the protest. How is that not obvious to you?

I see the problem: you don't understand how laws are made in a democracy. You should educate yourself before you comment further.

Because I actually think outside the cyclists box. There's more than one point of view on every issue, that's why there's due process in a representative republic where everyone has a voice, rather than mob rule.

To quote a post previously

"I dunno, maybe as an "avid cyclist" you ought to learn how to use your equipment. I can downshift simply by twisting my wrist and easing up on the pedals for a second. Something like that might work for you, too."

I am aware that I am supposed to change my gears every time. I am quite skilled at that part. However, because of my fitness level, I like to challenge myself when I cycle. So I usually leave my gears on the heaviest gear, and give myself a proper exercise. Its like telling a fixie cyclist why he prefers to ride a fixie instead of using geared bike. He would say the same thing, its more challenging, more fun, forces the cyclist to be more aware and cautious. I am afraid of using a fixie bike, but I applaud the cyclist who uses fixies for their courage. As for me, I tend to be more aware of the people around me. If there is a pedestrian, I would stop, if there is a car already at the intersection, I would stop. But I will use a rolling stop (stop only if necessary) to go through a stop sign to maintain my momentum.

The only thing that annoys some drivers more than a bicyclist that doesn't obey the laws is one that does.
