Not looking for controversy. Just pointing out that NYC isn't that unique, either in sense of humor or bicyclist attitudes.

i think a cyclist that has a good head on their shoulders will get it, but the general reader that comes across it may struggle to get it/accept it.

BF's A&S Land may be unique in its cadre of bicyclist "advocates" with no sense of humor and an oh-so-much attitude of entitlement.
