I'm not sure ignorance like that even deserves a reply. If he was halfway serious about that article, a few words from cyclist certainly aren't going to change his mind.
Someone just needs to buy that guy a decent bike and take away his vehicle. Let him live in our world for a bit so maybe, just maybe he'll realize on his own that not every cyclist is a law-breaking sociopath with nothing better to do than to run down pedestrians. |

This is some poor writing. This makes me embarrassed to live in Chicago. I have ridden my bike and walked on the trail he is referring to. Occasionally there are lycra clad roadies going 20+ mph down the trail on their high end Treks. These guys are ****** bags. Not only is this impolite, but dangerous considering skateboarders, pedestrians, rollerbladers, dogs and strollers all share the same space. However, 99% of the people who bike on the trail do so at reasonable speeds, slow for congested areas and are polite to the other users. To make the generalization that bicyclists are ruining the trail for everyone is ignorant and insulting.
