They could save enough to take a nice vacation somewhere, or to buy a really good bike. Or a really good bike and a really good bicycling kit and//or accessories and/or tools.

We need employers who encourage their employees to ride or walk to work instead of taking their car.
We also need spaces to encourage folks to do anything but drive... large open pedestrian centers; good connectivity for bikes; walkways that go to shopping areas.

When everything looks like a nail, it is hard not to reach for a hammer. We've designed our cities around the car... so folks naturally use the car. Time to back off a bit on that trend. Cars have their place... it's just not "everywhere."

It's gonna take generations to undo what it took generations to build up.

Agreed, it took generations to get into this situation and it's going to take generations to get out of it.

It's a grassroots shift; the larger institutions are slowly following the lead of LCIs and other cyclists in this terminology.

Granted a handful of LCI's and Vehicular Cyclists posting on the Internet use the term Bicycle Driving vice Vehicular Cycling, preferring a stilted awkward term presumably in order to escape the dark shadow of being associated with John Forester.

I haven't noticed anyone representing a larger institution or writing/speaking in mainstream media using the new LCI/VC Buzz Word phrase for riding a bike.

Doubt if any ever will, unless they are quoting a "grassroots" brand LCI.

I had a non-cyclist coworker ask me if I drove my bike to work one day earlier this week. Maybe "bicycle driving" is starting to catch on!

I'm not suggesting that "bicycle driving" is intended to replace "bicycle riding;" only that it is intended to replace "vehicular cycling" which many people believe is an inferior term when trying to imply the rights and duties of a driver. I think it will be fairly easy to phase out the term "vehicular cycling" when discussing paradigms of operation.

Since "motorcycle riding" is a much more commonly used term than "motorcycle driving" I think we know what the natural limits of the language use will be. Note that the Commute Orlando site does not make significant, if any, use of either "bicycle driving" or "vehicular cycling;" they focus on confidence and performance issues more than paradigm issues while leading to the same conclusions as the "bicycle driving" advocates.

Noted; makes sense to avoid both terms in order to maintain focus on the issues, rather than being sidetracked by the use of loaded buzz words.
