In fact, given the fact that taking the bus is far far safer than walking, cycling, or driving in terms of fatalities per billion kilometers I think we should strip the assets of the families of anyone injured on the roads who was not riding the bus.

And we should piss in their shoes just for being so stupid too.

Not extreme enough. Wearing a helmet is worse than any of that.

I did earlier. I don't know why you continue to overlook the most clear and known part of the conversation.

I think we're having a disagreement over the use of the word "range". I'm using it in its normal sense and you're using it to mean a single value.

I believe the range here is 0 to 100J flat, 0 to 65J hemispherical, 0 to 58J curb...

No, the minimum range is of impact energies from 0-100J against flat surfaces, from 0-65J against a more pointed hemispherical surface, and from 0-58J for a more pointed "curb " or edge surface. Every value in between is covered by those impact loads. Within those impact energies, a head or brain will receive(or create) less than 300G of acceleration.

I recall there were referendums, but it was a long time ago. The whole social cost theory behind these laws is an economic fraud. Literally no part of it holds up well under scrutiny.

I agree with you, and raise the taxes on everyone and cost of health insurance so everyone can pay for the idiots that don't wear helmets...wait, we're already doing that...nevermind.

Ban cars and sugar and you'll save a LOT more than banning helmet-free cycling.

And we can sum up your total contribution to this thread with "I'm right and anyone who disagrees with me is too stupid to be allowed to make his own choices."

Well, no, actually it's because so many lawmakers think like you do - the "I'm right and anyone who disagrees with me is too stupid to be allowed to make his own choices" paradigm discussed earlier - so reasonable people understand we have to be cautious about allowing ourselves to be told what to do even when the particular topic seems innocuous.

Short version: when people with obnoxiously high opinions of themselves are given too much power, the rest of us suffer.

You wouldn't know how to think clearly enough to see it coming. Thus, libertarians miss the fact that they aren't thinking for themselves just by trying to be who they think they are, but really aren't. You are what you despise, and only in denial of it by the mere fact that you want everything on your terms and forget that you got those terms from others. Those others have power over you because you are already using their terms to perceive your world, and now you want to rebel against their ideas as if you understand them, when you clearly are just interested in rebelling and not understanding.

You'll find, eventually, that junior college sociology lectures don't actually make much sense in the real world.

That is correct. I'm right because I'm informed.

Stupidity or ignorance? Denial or self-pity? Take your pick. I was nice enough to consider it a lack of information, but there is clearly a component of will involved. That's the standard called negligence in a court of law.

I like your quote interpretations. But if you're trying to make it look like I edited, your games will show through as much as the rest of the childish stances about helmets.

You might as well stop addressing posts to me. I'm all the way through with your nonsense.

Jr college didn't make much sense in the real world? Neither did graduate school!!!

License2Ill 07-17-13 05:41 PM

Yes, less education, please. Start the chant amongst the independent thinkerers. We always knew it wasn't really about head injuries, but about fears of loss of self, as expressed from the cerebral cortex region.

I have to say, fabricating abusive quotes is a new low, even for the h****t thread. Meanwile was banned for far less.
