Interesting wearable bike lock with LED lights
Hi all, I came across this wearable bike lock on Kickstarter that supposedly improves safety of cyclists through it's LED lights that are on the strap.
I think it looks ok. Thought I'd share with everyone

Interesting idea. Not sure how I feel about the 4-digit combo lock though, 5-digits would be an order of magnitude better ( ). Still, it looks like a convenient deterrent solution in very low-risk situations.
I might be interested in the just flat, flexible cable with the reflective strip (sans electronics) if it let me choose my own shackle or had a built-in key lock instead of the combo system.

I mean one that you can also use to lock up the bike, like in the kickstarter, just without all the convoluted doo-dads. I like the one you posted though. And I suppose one could technically use it to lock up a bike as well.

A good idea! But the lock would have to be more secure, or an option to use a different one. Also, would it not get dirty from chain grease and transfer that to your clothes? And if the rider had a backpack or messenger bag, the sash/lock would be partially covered (although that is the same problem with regular safety vests. and sashes All that being said, it is still a good safety idea for more casual riders who would otherwise carry a lock or chain, but not wear high-vis gear.

Looks like a nice visibility aid; however the lock/cable is not all that impressive as a security device. Not worth the $100+ USD projected retail

It doesn't look very good for locking yourself to anything, so there goes the protest angle.

Well, maybe not a Sequoia or anything grand like that but it looks sufficient to lock oneself to one of the crabapples lining the cul-de-sac, which would be useful when protesting the new HOA regulations.

Any bets that the OP is the beneficiary of the kickstart? Looks like it could be good for quick trip to the store, not for all day high risk lock situations.

Lol interesting thoughts but no. No afiliation. Everyone is free to form their opinion here. My views are that this lock thing looks ok. What caught my attention was the lights making cyclists more visible. Not really the lock as such but concept looks okay. That was pretty much it. Just wanted to share with all seeing that this forum touches on safety.

No electronics. No lock. Just reflective belt. Lots more choices, Try Google "reflective belt".

Looks uncomfortable and restricting. I used to wear my chain lock that way. Its not an optimal position for a lock. Especially not during winter or colder days when your wearing a bit fury jacket.
