Lightweight lock?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Lightweight lock?

I'm looking for advice for a lightweight bike lock. I don't really need something for high-crime areas, just enough to "keep honest people honest."

How "honest" are these people? How long will the bike be unattended? How valuable is the bike?

Bikes: Allez, SuperSix Evo

I stashed a small luggage lock under my seat in case I have to run into a convenience store for 2 minutes. With bike in view.

A pair of dikes could easily cut it.

Bikes: Many bikes in three states and two countries, mainly riding Moots Vamoots, Lynskey R265 disc and a Spot Denver Zephyr nowadays

I use the made in Japan Pamly lock, which is an aluminum U lock.

Very light, not much resistance to a hacksaw but the whole point is it LOOKS like a heavy steel U lock until you actually handle it.

You can even use Kryptonite Color Skins to replace the Palmy stock skin and then it looks like a Kryptonite mini U lock.

Yeah, I have one of those with a seat leash, sort of a mini-lock & cable set...

TiGr. Titanium, 760g for the full-length version which can lock both wheels without removing the front, easy to stow along the top tube.

Well, that's different. Not cheap, though! Thanks for the link.

The bike is a 2012 Madone (Trek) and I'm looking for a lock to secure the bike while I use the men's room, for example, at a busy beach area. Not high crime, but there may be a punk around who might swipe the bike if it's not locked. But I doubt that someone working on a lock would go unnoticed.

Here's what I use... 90 grams, 4 digit combo, the cable is long enough to lock the front wheel and frame to something.

I use a small coiled cable (combination) bicycle lock. Everyone has seen these in stores. They cost about $5. The only person the cable lock would/could stop is the 14 year old teenager that is bored or has a chip on his shoulder (and no tools). And that's OK. I don't leave my bike alone often... and there is very little that I could do (IMHO) to stop a serious thief. I'd rather a determined thief take dikes (side cutters) to my cable lock while I am in the men's room.... than bust my head open when I am not looking.
