Where Do You Keep Your Bike Lock Key??
Assuming you have a keyed lock, where do you keep it? It's not that easy to remember to put in my pocket and I don't want to store it on the bike, or do I? Curious about what others do with their bike lock key.

I have a combo lock, so not a problem. Have you considered leaving the key in the lock, until you lock the bike?

I hate keyed locks, but I have one ... don't use it often .... I store the key tied to the lock with a ribbon, so i cannot pick up one without the other. When I need to lock up it is not hard to remember to put the key in a pocket then. (I don't recommend storing the key in the lock for that one-nine-thousand chance of dropping it and breaking the key off.)

Thanks. I was thinking I could keep it in my small under seat bag, then pocket it after locking. Just got it brand new (keyed Abus 6500 to replace combo cable lock) and am figuring out best strategies.

Axa Defender ring lock, I have the key in it to keep it open when I ride the bike,
the lock is attached to the frame.
The removal of the key is part of the locking procedure .. the hasp goes around the rear wheel..

If I use a keyed lock, it is in my pannier bag in the lock on the ride, and in a jersey or shorts pocket when I am off the bike.

after forgetting my u-lock key a couple of times when headed out for a ride I simply keep it with all my keys so it's always with me. That and my pitlock key in case I get a flat. Now I don't have to worry about a thing.

I have a key ring with two rings connected by a little doohickey. I keep my backdoor key, home alarm fob and bike key on one small ring, and the rest of my keys on the big ring. That way I just take the small ring on rides from the house. It also lets me leave the car running while I run inside to grab something.

It is on a snap ring so I can attach it to my regular key ring when I need it and detach it when I don't...

Carabiner/lanyard and loop it round the lock. I keep that key separate from my regular car key ring but have a spare at the house.

bike lock key with car keys when I am riding. Most of the time I don't carry a lock so the key is hanging in the key lock box in the house.

I find I don't need/want to carry my house/car/etc. keys with me when I ride, just no need for me, bulky and for me just doesn't work. Love the idea of a separate doohicky fob thingy that I could attach/detach from my main key ring. It would have enough substance to be found easily and I could take it with when I travel with my main set of keys. Thanks for all the replies I know this seems simple but I got some good ideas and I appreciate it.

It's on the key ring with all my other important keys: house, office, yakima rack.

When I was a bike commuter I kept my lock key on a string around my neck.

I also use a folding lock and just store the key in my under seat bag. I have to use the key to open the lock anyway so I can't lock the bike if it is missing.

On my key chain, which splits into two parts - one with my car key, the other house/bicycle/etc.
