Ok so who is your pick?? It seems like its worse than picking the winner of the melb cup but I will give it a go...
Karl Menzies or Alan Davis Both have huge incentives IMHO. They might want it more. I dont think the hill climb is that long (even though its repetitive) so should faze menzies much. Who else has a pick? |
Too hard for Menzies IMO. The climb is tough. I like Davis.
|
Gerro for me. McLaughlan to finish inthe top five too.
|
Yeah, Gerro is a good pick. Good form in the bay crits. I'll have to check out the start list again.
|
Is Robbie a definite non-starter then?
I reckon Gerrans, in that case. |

What's the point of being an ok sprinter, like O'Grady, with 500 5th places? :p |

Im not a fan of gerrans. I know hes had a bad run with injury but ive been seeing a fair bit of him in interview and so forth and I dont like the way he carries himself. Ive personally got him pegged in the 'mentally no up too win a the big race' category. Hes an awesome athlete and I noticed his legs looking much stronger but there is too much of the 'little fragile school boy' in him for mine. cue: gerrans to win on sunday and for this post to look ridiculous...:D |
Hmmm, fair enough....but back to back overall victories at the Herald Sun Tour would seem to stretch your theory somewhat - for mine at least. OK, the HS tour isn't the TdF, but it's still a big race here in Oz.
He also knows how to ride in the hurtbox bigtime, as demonstrated in his placing at one stage of his debut at the TdF. (Disclaimer..I am a fan of Gerro, but I won't blow smoke up someone's arse just coz I am a fan - they have to be worthy of it IMO, too):) |

The biggest stars were the 'biggest' time-trialers: Indy, LeMond, Armstrong, Rominger, etc. Unless you're an elite sprinter, a great 'prolguer'/pursuiter, or a great time-trialer/climber, all the rest may as well be domestiques as far as I'm concerned :p

Ben "Chocko" Brooks. De Canio grassed him out about having a fridge full of EPO in the Linda McCartney days. He had memory lapse about the whole thing in SBS's "Insight" program. |

That would be the show, matagi. Pretty much a waste of an hour it was.
