BB30 vs PF30 & Bottom Bracket Shell Width

got this 2013 KONA JtS: KONAWORLD (got it used)
BB shell width spec says 68mm

It has a PF30 bearing installed. The flanges are outboard of the shell, like this: BB30 vs PF30

The bike came with S-Works carbon cranks, don't know what year: https://www.power2max.asia/download/Crankset/03.pdf

Had a problem when the splines started slipping. They don't look damaged, as I stopped right away and pedaled single leg a couple miles to the bike shop (I was already out on a ride when it happened.....)

My LBS says I need a crankset for 73mm shell, the S-Works are for a 68mm shell.
My calipers say the PF30 flanges make my shell 72mm.

Finally, a question: Does all that add up?
The guy I bought the bike from says he's run this set up many times, no problems. He says I just need to blue-Loctite .... something. The bolt holding everything together , probably.

Let me know when you can. Thanks.
I'm leaning toward sticking the S-Works cranks on the classifieds. These new fangled BB / PF are complicating my whole biking experience.... gimme a square taper cartridge next time.
