Ok I am a newbie. Starting riding in march. Got a used Orbea Aqua road bike with these shimano pedals. Trying to figure out what style they are so I can buy the proper cleats.

Bikes: See sig

Those are SPD pedals (note: not SPD-SL). In other words, the cleats have 2 holes.

Note, those pedals will have an Allen Wrench tension adjustment on the back.

If you're a "newbie", you may choose to make sure they are set as loose as possible, then tighten them up if you need to later.

Shimano sells a standard cleat and a "multirelease" cleat. The multirelease cleats are supposed to be easier to get out. I haven't tried them as I worried they would be easier for accidental releases, but they are also worth considering when just starting.

I like 'em myself, especially for commutes and long rides that involve a lot of clip/unclip cycles. I discovered the hard way on PBP this year that the harder twisting for the regular cleats makes my knee unhappy. (Pedal tension is backed off all the way, or nearly so.)

If you do try out the multi-release cleats at some point and don't like 'em, I'll take 'em off your hands.

I see two holes through the pedals. Most Look branded pedals I see have one hole through them. My Speedplay X's have no holes buy do have 4 grooves in them. Andy. (Who muct be in a good mood as this is the second attempt at a funny today).
