Broken keys in kryptonite locks.

These are the long square keys. Here's how to get them out. Put a needle in the lock and turn the wheels counter clockwise until they stop and are all aligned. Then whack the hell out of the lock. Two I worked on popped right out. The other one I used a pocket knife to make the key fragment a bit pointy then it popped right out. If this does not work DON'T PANIC The lock may still open if you turn the key fragment clockwise. The new lock is well designed to collect dirt in the key way.

  1. Go to your LBS and ask for a bad road tube. .
  2. Cut an approximately 2" long section out of the tube.
  3. Open your lock
  4. Slip this segment over the open lock covering the key way
  5. Roll back the tube to access the keyway
Problem solved
