how to remove FSA gossamer crank?

i'm upgrading my wife's CX crank from the fsa gossamer crank to the force22.

i noticed the fsa gossamer crank on there does not have the self extracting system. plus it's on a bb30, so it's through and through.. so i won't be able to use a long rod to insert inside and using the crank puller to leverage off of it to push it out.

any other way to remove it?

much appreciated...

That should have an extractor on it... Was there something fishy when you first went to remove it, like did it look weird?

Not without breaking something. Better to get one of these to finish the job: FSA Self-Extracting Crank Bolt > Components > Drivetrain > Crankset Parts & Accessories | Jenson USA

Unfortunately the version I have does not have a self extraction bolt.

Oldbobcat: we plan on selling the FSA crank later, so probably won't get that tool.

Ill bring it to lbs tomorrow then. Was hoping for a diy way to remove it.

Bikes: '96 Litespeed Catalyst, '05 Litespeed Firenze, '06 Litespeed Tuscany, '20 Surly Midnight Special, All are 3x10. It is hilly around here!

Are the threads the standard M22x1.0 like most square taper and ISIS/Octalink cranks? If so a regular puller plus a plug to fill the center hole to give the screw press something to push against should work. Shimano has a mushroom-shaped steel plug for the Octalink bbs that should work.

Either you removed the self-extracting bolt or it hasn't been there for a while. Unless you buy (or borrow) one a deadblow hammer is your best bet.

I have that crank on a bike and it comes off easily. There are two Allen bolts on non drive side that hold crank tight after tightening bottom bracket bolt. Loosen those and pull crankarm off. Then drive side pulls out.

Yea mine didn't come with the self extracting bolt. Ended up paying $5 for LBS to remove it.

Thanks to everyone's suggestion and help.

The simplest solution is often the best. If you don't have the proper tool to do the job, pay someone who does.
