Record shifter
I bought a set of Record 10 speed shifters in need of a rebuild. I rebuilt the shifters and they shift great off the bike, but when I install the right shifter on the bars and tighten the clamp, the shifter binds and won't shift up or down.
Any ideas?

Is the cable routed wrong, so it's getting stuck when tightened ?

How tight did you make the clamp? Maybe you deformed the carbon body. Campy's recommended torque spec is too high in my opinion. I cracked two bodies using their spec. Then I learned.

I tightened it just enough to hold the shifter in place, not even as tight as I should have retain it. I wonder if the body is cracked from the previous user.
I'll have to pull it down again.
I have Chorus shifters on my other bike that I installed without any problem.

+1 I always mount shifters (and brake levers and quill stems) loose enough that I can move them by hand, so that they are less likely to break or to impale the rider in a spill. It does not take a lot of tension to keep them from moving under normal use.
